H.H. Sheikh Hamdan names GDRFA's 'Red Carpet Travel Corridor' for Dubai-it award

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, has presented the Dubai-it Award in the government category to the team behind GDRFA's Red Carpet immigration corridor at DXB.

Sheikh Hamdan said the "project transformed the airport experience, enabling travellers to complete entry and exit procedures in less than five seconds, making it the fastest service of its kind in the world".

He said the project also helped "increase capacity tenfold while achieving a passenger satisfaction rate of over 99 per cent".

Sheikh Hamdan added that it "adapted and reflected the philosophy behind Dubai-it: achieving exceptional results that change the way things are done, harnessing the latest technologies to make people’s lives easier and create experiences that exceed their expectations".

The smart corridor uses AI and biometric recognition technologies to verify passenger identities and complete clearance procedures automatically and seamlessly.

The system can process up to 10 passengers simultaneously through the smart corridor, compared with traditional lanes, which process one passenger at a time.

Sheikh Hamdan had launched the Dubai-it Award in June this year to honour "individuals, projects, companies and institutions that... transform bold ideas into exceptional achievements".
