There’s good news for disabled people in Dubai, as the emirate’s Inclusive Development Forum opened this morning. The two-day event will see experts from around the world brainstorm how to turn Dubai into a disability-friendly city by 2020. There are two laws protecting disabled people in Dubai, and both mandate inclusion. Dr. Salem Alshafei is Director of Policies and Programs, and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the General Secretariat of Executive Council of Dubai. He says they have ambitious plans for people who use wheelchairs.
