Fourth UAE aid plane arrives in Beirut

WAM

The UAE has sent another aid plane to Lebanon carrying around 100 tonnes of essential supplies.

This is the fourth aircraft dispatched by the UAE, and the second under the supervision of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) to ease the suffering of those affected by the explosion in Beirut.

The move follows the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

It will be overseen by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Chairman of ERC.

The latest batch of assistance includes medicines, food and nutritional supplements for children, in addition to other essential items.

The plane also carried an ERC delegation who will be helping with the aid delivery, assessing the situation on the ground, and identifying further humanitarian needs.

Sheikha Fatima has already donated AED 10 million in the aftermath of the explosion in support of the ERC's relief programmes in Lebanon.
