A fire that broke out in a residential building in Sharjah's Al Nahda area on Thursday night has claimed the lives of five people and injured 44 others.
According to the police, the fire broke out at 10:50 PM on Thursday in a 39-storey tower that housed 750 apartments.
As a result of the damage caused by the fire, around 156 people have been moved to temporary accommodations.
Maj Gen Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police, offered his condolences to the families of those who died in the fire.
