Emirates flights from Hamburg and Frankfurt on Thursday have been impacted due to the airport security worker strike in Germany.

The Dubai carrier said one flight has been cancelled and the rest will take off a day later on Friday, March 8.

In a statement published on its official website, Emirates regretted the inconvenience caused due to the "industrial action by aviation security staff in Germany" and urged passengers to "contact their local office for rebooking options".

The airport association ADV estimated that Thursday's strike would affect the travel plans of more than 250,000 people.

Apart from airport security workers, train drivers and Lufthansa ground staff in Germany are also taking part in the strike that's set to last 35 hours.
