Dubai's iconic landmark, the Burj Khalifa, has been lit up in solidarity with the Kuwaiti people, paying tribute to the nation's late Emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.

A message has been posted by the Burj Khalifa's management on social media offering condolences.

Three days of official mourning have been observed in the UAE since Sheikh Sabah's death on Tuesday.

The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the offering of funeral prayers in absentia.

The prayer will be performed in all mosques nationwide on October 1, after Asr prayers.

Sheikh Sabah, who died at the age of 91, was laid to rest yesterday.
