Dubai’s Endowments and Minors' Trust Foundation (Dubai Endowment) has launched a campaign to fund the needs of 50 mosques in the emirate.

The move aims to establish a sustainable charitable endowment whose proceeds will cater to the needs of mosques that do not have endowments or sponsors.

As part of the initiative, Dubai Endowment will build a commercial complex at a cost of AED 40 million in Al Khawaneej area that includes 29 shops, a large shopping mall, a medical centre and parking lots.

The complex is expected to generate an annual revenue of AED 8 million, which will be used to cover the expenses of about 50 mosques.

Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Dubai Endowment, said that the new campaign’s ultimate goal is to dedicate an endowment for each mosque in Dubai.

He called on government and private entities, charities, community institutions and individuals to contribute to the campaign, and emphasised that all contributors will be registered officially as major supporters.
