Dubai bus drivers honoured for service excellence

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has honoured more than 700 public bus drivers for outstanding performance in 2025.

A total of 737 drivers were recognised for consistently meeting high standards in safety, professionalism and operational efficiency.

The initiative reflects the RTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of public transport services and improve customer satisfaction across the emirate.

Marwan Al Zarooni, Director of Buses at the RTA’s Public Transport Agency, says the programme supports the authority’s wider goals in safety, service excellence and customer happiness.

He added that drivers are assessed annually through a comprehensive evaluation system, which includes adherence to traffic laws, service quality, professional conduct and the avoidance of violations and customer complaints.

Al Zarooni praised the awardees for their dedication, noting their contribution to delivering a safe and reliable transport experience that reflects Dubai’s global standards.

The recognition also comes amid strong growth in public transport usage, with bus ridership reaching more than 197 million passengers in 2025 — a nearly five per cent increase on the previous year.

Officials say the initiative not only rewards excellence, but also encourages healthy competition among drivers and helps raise overall safety and service standards.

The honoured drivers, meanwhile, say the recognition is a strong motivator to continue delivering high-quality service and maintaining excellence on Dubai’s roads.
