A DJ, the general manager of a tourism company, and its marketing director have been arrested in Dubai for organising a party in violation of COVID-19 safety protocols.

According to Dubai Police, the gathering was held in a closed space for more than 100 guests.

They took action against the violators as soon as the video of the incident started circulating on social media platforms.

"The organisers, who had not acquired necessary permission from competent authorities, clearly violated social distancing rules and the announced precautionary measures against coronavirus, and put the lives of many at risk," said Brigadier Jamal Salem Al-Jallaf, director of the General Department of Criminal Investigations at Dubai Police.

Authorities have once again called on the public to comply with social distancing norms and not to host or attend such events.

There's an AED 10,000 fine for those who organise social gatherings and celebrations, while attendees are fined AED 5,000.
