The UAE has received approvals from the Indian government to procure adequate quantities of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine for treating COVID-19 patients.

The first shipment of nearly 5.5 million pills is currently on its way to the Emirates.

In a Tweet, the UAE Embassy in New Delhi thanked the Indian government for helping with the supplies.

Last week, health authorities in the UAE said they’ve been using hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19 patients.
