Construction work has started on a fourth nuclear energy reactor at Barakah, in the UAE’s Western Region. This makes it the world’s leading nuclear construction site- where four identical units are being built at the same time. Barakah now surpasses the likes of China, the US, the UK and Russia. The first of the UAE’s four nuclear reactors is scheduled to start operating in 2017, with others following at 12-month intervals.
