Bangladesh lauds UAE's support in securing release of UN staff in Yemen

Bangladesh has thanked the UAE for its efforts in securing the release of United Nations security staff who were abducted in Yemen over a year ago.

One of the five employees who were released earlier this month is a Bangladeshi national.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed lauded the UAE's role during a phone call to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sheikh Mohamed affirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting the UN’s initiatives and humanitarian efforts.

He also highlighted the UAE's deeply rooted humanitarian approach based on respect for human life, cooperation and the promotion of stability and security to enable development and prosperity.
