Nine out of 10 COVID-19 patients who were hospitalised and needed critical medical care in Dubai were unvaccinated.

That's according to the latest statistics released by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), which added that 8 out 10 people who tested positive for COVID-19 were also unvaccinated.

During an interview, Dr. Alawi Sheikh Ali, Deputy Director of the DHA, urged everyone to get the jab, reiterating how the vaccine is crucial in reducing the risk of infection and hospitalisation.

He added that more than 2.3 million people in Dubai have received the vaccine so far, with 83 per cent of the eligible population receiving their first jab, and 64 per cent of both doses.
