Over 2,100 Toyota and Lexus vehicles in the emirates have been recalled due to their pre-collision system (PCS). In a statement issued to ARN, Al Futtaim Motors has confirmed that Toyota Avalons and Lexus ES models from the years 2013 to 2015 have been recalled. When the radar sensor in the said vehicles detects a possible frontal crash, the PCS automatically engages the brakes to lessen the impact. However, depending on the vehicle’s orientation while in motion, the PCS could detect a steel joint or plate that crosses the road, which could then initiate a warning sound and force it to stop. Al Futtaim Motors says it's getting in touch with concerned consumers to explain the flaw and how it plans to fix it.
