Two people sustained "minor injuries" after a part of Al Mulla shopping centre in Dubai collapsed late Saturday.

In a statement released on Dubai Media Office's official social media handles, Dubai Police said "swift action" was taken by government authorities to "manage the situation" that occurred on Saturday night.

Emergency crew managed to evacuate everyone, "including workers and visitors", to safety.

The authority said "improper storage of heavy materials" led to the incident.
