Dubai Police are reminding motorists to check the condition of their tyres before hitting the road.

The reminder comes following two accidents on Tuesday that were triggered by burst tyres - one of which was fatal.

One person was killed and seven others were injured after a bus crashed into a truck that had stopped on Emirates Road with a burst tyre (1:45 am).

Meanwhile, a minibus driver was seriously injured in an accident in Ras Al Khor, which was also caused by a burst tyre (.

The vehicle deviated from its lane and crashed into a concrete barrier.

Two other accidents were also reported on Tuesday.

A motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries in a collision involving a car in Al Barsha (7:45 pm).

The fourth accident took place in the Damac Hills 2 area when a car rammed into the sidewalk on an internal street (10:00 pm).

Officials have urged drivers to carry out periodic checks on their vehicles, to avoid speeding and to leave a safe distance between vehicles.
