Ex-Mexican oil chief in hot water

ALFREDO ESTRELLA / AFP

The former chief executive of a Mexican state oil company has been accused of corruption.

Prosecutors say an arrest warrant has been issued for Emilio Lozoya.

He used to be the head of Pemex, which is a state-owned oil company.

It's alleged that Lozoya look USD$ 10 million (AED 36.7 million) in bribes from a Brazilian construction company.

The company, which is called Odebrecht, has admitted that it paid off politicians in Latin America.

Lozoya and his lawyers reject the allegations.

They also want authorities to revoke the arrest warrant.
