Zayn Malik debuts song about ex-fiancee Perrie

Zayn Malik debuted the song he wrote about his ex-fiancee Perrie Edwards on 'The Tonight Show' on Wednesday (17.02.16). The 23-year-old singer - who quit One Direction in March - made his first TV appearance as a solo artist and performed his second single, 'It's You', a song he previously explained was about Perrie. Zayn has said: "I just felt like I needed to put myself out there on that just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help get me through some s**t." The former couple split in August, amid claims he had dumped her by text, something the singer has previously denied. He is currently dating model Gigi Hadid, who appears in the video for his debut single 'Pillowtalk'. Meanwhile, Zayn also revealed the artwork for his debut solo album, 'Mind of Mine' on the show and later posted a black and white version on Instagram. It features a picture of the star as a cherubic youngster with tattooed arms and has already drawn comparisons to Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter III' album. The album will be released on March 25, exactly one year after Zayn abruptly quit One Direction, by walking out during their 'On The Road Again' world tour. One Direction's remaining members, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson, are currently on an extended hiatus.
