Nine Critics' Choice Awards for Mad Max: Fury Road

'Mad Max: Fury Road' was the big winner at the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards. The movie - starring Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hoult - was nominated for 13 awards and took home an impressive nine at the ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica California on Sunday (17.01.16). George Miller was awarded Best Director, Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron picked up Best Actor and Actress in an Action Movie respectively, the film was named Best Action Movie, and also won awards for editing, production design, costume design, hair and makeup and visual effects. 'Spotlight' was named Best Picture, and also won the Best Original Screenplay and Best Ensemble Cast gongs. Rachel McAdams accepted the ensemble-cast award for on behalf of herself and costars Liev Schreiber, Mark Ruffalo, John Slattery, Michael Keaton, Brian d'Arcy James and Billy Crudup. 'The Big Short' also won three awards including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Comedy and Christian Bale for Best Actor in a Comedy. 'The Revenant's Leonardo DiCaprio and 'Room's Brie Larson won Best Actor and Best Actress while Sylvester Stallone ['Creed'] and Alicia Vikander for ['The Danish Girl'] won the Supporting Actor and Actress gongs. The Critics' Choice Awards also feature 23 TV categories and highlights included 'Mr. Robot' winning Best Drama while Aziz Ansari's show 'Master of None' was named Best Comedy. 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's Rachel Bloom won Best Comedy Actress while 'Transparent's Jeffrey Tambor picked up the Best Comedy Actor award/ 'The Leftovers' actress Carrie Coon won Best Actress in a Drama while 'Mr. Robot's Rami Malek received Best Actor. 21st ANNUAL CRITICS' CHOICE AWARDS WINNERS - For a full list of winners go to www.criticschoice.com
