Keith Urban's dad dies

Keith Urban's father has died following a battle with cancer. The 48-year-old singer is relieved his dad Robert is no longer in pain and can finally rest in peace after he passed away on Saturday evening (05.12.15) following a long and difficult fight with the deadly disease. Speaking to UsWeekly, Keith - who is married to Nicole Kidman - said: "I've been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support that Nicole and I, and our family, have received since my dad's passing on Saturday night. His long battle with cancer is now over and he is finally at peace." Despite his relief, the country star was reduced to tears earlier this week when he revealed Robert had checked into a hospice and had just "weeks to live." He said: "He's probably only got a few weeks, if that. I've just been dealing with that the last couple of days. "This has all come at a very strange time where it's typical of a career that has extreme highs and extreme lows all often at the exact same time. So [the exhibit] is bittersweet a little bit because [my dad] is the catalyst for all of this. My dad is the catalyst for me living in America." However, Keith remained tight-lipped on what type of cancer his father had been battling and whether he was being cared for in a hospice in their native Australia or America.
