Dubai's first anacondas welcomed to The Green Planet

Supplied

A pair of what's easily the most recognisable and well-known snake in the world have arrived in Dubai.

Two huge anacondas measuring nearly four metres in length have made their home at The Green Planet in City Walk, giving visitors the chance to observe the majestic reptile up close.

You can spot them at the biodome's recently renovated nocturnal walkthrough area, along with many other new roaming residents such as a prehensile porcupine, armadillos, tamandua anteaters, the famous rescued slow loris family, Burmese pythons, forest scorpions and more.

Found in South America, anacondas, or water boas, use their immensely powerful jaws to capture prey, then use their bodies to suffocate it before swallowing it whole.
