WAM

A documentary to mark the UAE's 50th National Day has racked up nearly 60 million views since its launch in December.

'1971', produced by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), has been watched on international TV 21.5 million times while social media figures clock in at 36.4 million.

The 13-minute programme chronicles the march of the Union, whose foundations were laid by the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

It tells the story of the country's development and its achievements, thanks to the leaders' forward-looking vision and distinctive approach to investment and empowerment.

Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director-General of WAM, has expressed his pride in the wide reach and high number of views that the film has achieved, especially as it's WAM's first documentary.

He added that the documentary’s dubbing into eight languages, namely English, French, Chinese, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian, has contributed to its success.
