Worried about physical distancing onboard? Emirates puts empty seats on sale

Dubai Media Office

Air passengers now have the option to practice physical distancing in the skies. This time, for an extra cost.

That's right! Those flying Economy on Emirates Airline can buy up to three empty adjoining seats on their flight.

Each empty seat will cost between AED 200 and AED 600, and will be on offer only to those with a confirmed booking at the airport check-in counter, the airline clarified.

And, depending on the flight sector additional taxes will be added to the cost.

Passengers, however, will not be able to pre-book these seats "as they are subject to availability".

The airline said the decision to introduce this option is based on customer feedback as passengers seek "extra privacy and space while still flying in Economy Class".

"This includes couples who wish to have the entire row to themselves (maximum of three seats in same row), parents travelling with in-lap infants, or those who simply want the added assurance of more space while travelling during pandemic times," their statement added.
