UAE, Mexico strengthen trade ties

WAM

The UAE and Mexico are working to boost trade and investment relations, with a focus on fostering partnerships between their private sectors.

During an official visit to Mexico City, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, met with senior Mexican officials and business leaders to explore new collaboration opportunities.

Accompanied by UAE Ambassador to Mexico, Salem Rashid Al Owais, Al Zeyoudi held talks with Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramon de Lafuente and Economy Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon.

They discussed ways to further increase non-oil trade, which has seen steady growth, and identified sectors of mutual interest, such as agriculture, infrastructure and tourism.

In 2023, non-oil trade between the UAE and Mexico rose by 20.8%, reaching $2.6 billion, continuing this positive trend into 2024.

Al Zeyoudi highlighted the potential for deeper economic integration, with a focus on strengthening private-sector partnerships and enhancing supply chains.

He emphasized the shared commitment of both countries to foster mutual prosperity through ongoing trade and investment growth.

During his visit, Al Zeyoudi also met with leaders of major Mexican business groups to discuss investment opportunities and support for expanding into each other's markets.
