UAE, Germany launch joint business council

WAM

The UAE and Germany have taken a major step forward in economic cooperation with the official launch of the UAE-Germany Business Council in Berlin.

The high-level event was attended by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry & Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Germany, and Katrin Eder, Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

More than 150 senior officials and business leaders from both countries gathered for the ceremony, which marks a new chapter in a partnership spanning over five decades.

Dr. Al Jaber said the council will unlock new trade and investment opportunities, empower the private sector, and support sustainable development across key industries.

The event also saw the signing of the council’s charter by Co-Chair of the Business Council, Musabbeh Al Kaabi of ADNOC, and Günther Oettinger, former Minister-President of Baden-Württemberg and Co-Chair of the Council, representing the German side.

In a major clean energy development, UAE-based Masdar signed an MoU with German energy giant EnBW to explore battery storage and offshore wind projects in Germany and the UK, as well as green hydrogen initiatives.

The UAE-Germany Business Council is expected to play a key role in advancing innovation, sustainability, and economic growth between the two nations.
