His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi has witnessed the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Canada during his official visit to the country.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also witnessed the event, where the two nations further signed another three agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) aiming to expand cooperation and develop partnerships in key sectors, including defence, renewable energy and diplomatic training.

The CEPA concluded negotiations in July, taking a record 47 days to finalise the economic agreement.

On the sidelines of His Highness's visit, Emirati companies held trade and investment talks with their Canadian counterparts, valued at up to $15 billion, under a $50 billion investment framework announced during Prime Minister Mark Carney’s November 2025 visit to the UAE.

These negotiations covered four key strategic sectors: mining, logistics, energy and investment in sovereign wealth funds.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Khaled held bilateral talks with the Canadian Prime Minister, during which both sides reviewed the two nations' relations and explored ways to strengthen them.

The talks took place at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, where Carney received the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince.

His Highness signed the Distinguished Visitors Books, expressing pride in the UAE and Canada’s close relations and hope that the visit would open new avenues for cooperation.

He also conveyed the greetings of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with wishes for his continued health and happiness and for further progress and prosperity for Canada and its people. The Canadian Prime Minister returned the same wishes.

The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, AI and advanced technology, defence, clean energy, mining, infrastructure and logistics, aviation and space, food security, and other areas of mutual interest.

Sheikh Khaled highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between Emirati and Canadian institutions and companies and building on progress to develop joint projects in priority sectors.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues, emphasising the importance of supporting dialogue and diplomatic solutions and boosting efforts to promote security, peace and stability regionally and internationally.
