RTA signs AI partnerships with Chinese firms to boost future transport projects

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed two strategic agreements with Chinese technology giants Huawei and CASCO SIGNAL to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence, smart transport systems and digital infrastructure across the emirate's future mobility projects.

The agreements were signed during an official visit to China led by RTA Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors Mattar Al Tayer, as Dubai looks to strengthen international partnerships and adopt advanced technologies for its growing transport network.

The agreement with CASCO SIGNAL will see the establishment of an advanced research and development centre and innovation laboratory in Dubai linked to the Dubai Metro Blue Line and future metro projects. The facility will support testing, training and the development of AI-powered signalling, communications and operational systems before they enter service.

Meanwhile, the partnership with Huawei will focus on developing smart city applications, unified transport data platforms, AI-powered traffic and incident management systems, smart operations centres and enhanced digital infrastructure to improve the efficiency of Dubai's transport network.

Al Tayer said the agreements reflect RTA's commitment to expanding the use of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence while building long-term partnerships with leading global companies.

During the visit, the delegation also met government agencies and major transport companies in Shanghai, where they reviewed AI-powered control centres, smart metro systems, the city's integrated transport network, high-speed rail technology and modern bridge and tunnel construction methods. The discussions also explored greater participation by Chinese companies in RTA's current and future infrastructure projects.
