Middle East Energy 2026 opens in Dubai

Middle East Energy 2026 has officially opened at Dubai World Trade Centre, marking the 50th edition of the major regional energy event.

The opening ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, along with Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and other senior officials and industry leaders.

Al Mazrouei said the UAE is continuing to diversify its energy mix while strengthening energy security and moving towards cleaner sources.

He highlighted the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant and the UAE’s planned solar-plus-storage project, which is expected to deliver 5.2 gigawatts of solar power and 19 gigawatt-hours of battery storage.

The minister said achieving a secure and sustainable energy future will require closer cooperation between governments, businesses, investors, technology companies and financial institutions.

He also called for greater investment in energy efficiency, innovation and electricity connections between countries.

The three-day event, running until September 3, featured more than 30 sessions on its opening day, bringing together energy experts and industry leaders from around the world.

The event also includes the first Dubai Global Leaders Series, featuring high-level discussions on energy policy, technology and investment.

A number of major agreements are also expected to be signed during the exhibition, involving companies including Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, First Abu Dhabi Bank and Hitachi Energy.

Middle East Energy 2026 is highlighting the technologies, investments and partnerships shaping the future of the global energy sector.
