Abu Dhabi's hotels sector has been significantly boosted by the major global events that have been hosted in the emirate.
Almost 1.3 million people stayed in the capital's hotels in the first quarter of the year, during which time the Special Olympics World Games, football's AFC Asian Cup and the IDEX exhibition all took place.
It's led to total hotel revenues increasing by more than 16 per cent compared to the same period of 2018 in Q1, with room revenue growing by almost a quarter.
As well as the major events, officials also pointed to the likes of Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Al Hosn cultural site and Qasr Al Watan Library as all providing a significant boost to the emirate’s appeal as a tourism destination.
