Apple CEO Tim Cook calls EU tax ruling 'maddening'

Apple’s Chief Executive said an EU ruling ordering the tech giant to pay billions in taxes to Ireland was ‘maddening’. Tim Cook said a decision ordering Apple to pay huge tax bill was politically motivated, and that the calculations were picked from ‘I don’t know where’. In reaction to Cook’s comments, European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said the demand for a 13 billion Euro (AED 53 billion) back tax payment was based on facts. France joined Germany in backing Brussels’ move, while Washington sided with the iPhone maker, accusing the EU of grabbing tax that should be paid to the US government.
