Nearly 250 exhibitors, brands and rehabilitation centres from around 50 countries are showcasing the latest assistive technologies and accessibility solutions at the 8th AccessAbilities Expo in Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group inaugurated the three-day event at Dubai World Trade Centre.

The exhibition features a range of technologies supporting People of Determination, with several innovations being introduced in the Middle East for the first time.

These include AI-powered smart glasses offering real-time translation and visual assistance, advanced bionic prosthetics designed to replicate natural movement, and smartphone applications connecting People of Determination with adapted transport services.

Other solutions include voice recognition and real-time transcription technology for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as digital tools supporting learning and communication for people with autism.

During his tour of the exhibition, Sheikh Ahmed was briefed on the latest developments in assistive technologies and rehabilitation programmes.

The event will also feature an international awareness campaign covering topics including autism spectrum disorder, inclusive education, rehabilitation, home care and healthy nutrition.

Visitors will have access to free medical screenings, while a number of agreements and partnerships between local and international organisations are expected to be signed during the event.
