The WTA Tour has cancelled the Kunming Open tennis tournament in China's Anning city scheduled for April.

In a statement, the organisers said the decision was based on the "best interest of players, tournament and WTA staff and fans".

"We look forward to competing in Anning in 2021 along with the 2020 WTA events that are scheduled to take place this fall," it added.

This comes after the Xi'an Open, which was also scheduled for April, was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Zhengzhou, Jiangxi, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Beijing, Tianjin and Zhuhai are all set to host WTA events in September and October, with the WTA Finals scheduled for November in Shenzhen.
