Swiss star Wawrinka through to Dubai last 16

Swiss veteran Stan Wawrinka has advanced to the last 16 of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, beating Lebanon’s Benjamin Hassan 7–5, 6–3.

The 40-year-old will next face either third seed Daniil Medvedev or China’s Shang Juncheng.

Elsewhere, France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard snapped his five-match tour-level losing streak with a 7–6, 6–7, 7–6 victory over Tunisian wildcard Moez Echargui.
