Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have retained the Indian Premier League title after defeating Gujarat Titans in the 2026 final in Ahmedabad.

RCB produced a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Gujarat to 155 for eight, with Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Dar among the wickets. Gujarat’s top order struggled under pressure, although Washington Sundar provided resistance with a half-century.

In reply, Virat Kohli led the chase with his fastest-ever IPL fifty, helping Bengaluru move into a strong position despite a late fightback from Gujarat’s bowlers. Kohli’s innings came after an aggressive start from Venkatesh Iyer, who helped RCB race to one of the fastest powerplay totals in an IPL final.

The victory completes back-to-back IPL titles for Bengaluru and caps another dominant season for the franchise, which had already beaten Gujarat Titans heavily in Qualifier One to secure a direct route to the final.

The final was played in front of a crowd of more than 90,000 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with both teams chasing a second IPL crown.
