Fresh doubts are being raised over the international career of Indian cricketer MS Dhoni.

That’s after the 38-year-old was dropped from the Indian cricket board’s (BCCI) list of centrally contracted players.

The former captain hasn’t played a competitive game since the 2019 World Cup semi-final defeat to New Zealand.

Dhoni had retired from Test cricket in December 2014 and had stepped down as skipper of India's limited-overs teams in January 2017.

It remains to be seen whether he will play the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

Dinesh Karthik, Khaleel Ahmed and Ambati Rayudu are the other players to lose out on their central contracts, while Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar are the new entrants alongside Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.
