England have thrashed South Africa in the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup at The Oval.

Batting first, the hosts posted what seemed to be a below par total of 311 for 8.

Four batsmen made half centuries including Ben Stokes and captain Eoin Morgan.

In reply South Africa were bowled out for just 207 with fast bowler Jofra Archer taking three wickets.

England's next match is against Pakistan on June 3 while South Africa take on Bangladesh on June 2.
