England have kept their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of the World Cup alive by handing India their first loss of the tournament.

Batting first, the hosts posted 337 for 7 thanks to a blistering century from opening batsman Johnny Bairstow.

In reply, India were restricted to 306 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs despite a century from Rohit Sharma and a half-century from skipper Virat Kohli.

The result keeps England in the hunt for a semi-final spot going into their last group match against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, India need just one more point in their last two matches to cement their place in the final four.
