Aston Villa sack boss Tim Sherwood after Swansea defeat

NULL

Tim Sherwood has been sacked as Aston Villa boss after overseeing just one win from the club's opening 10 league games of the season. Sherwood’s position became untenable after Saturday’s 2-1 loss at home against Swansea, which left Villa second from bottom in the Premier League and with only point from their last nine matches. In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, the club confirmed that assistant boss, Ray Wilkins, Mark Robson, the first-team coach, and Seamus Brady, the performance analyst, had departed with Sherwood. Kevin MacDonald has been put in charge on a caretaker basis. In total, Sherwood, 46, oversaw just 10 wins from his 28 games in charge after taking over the reins from Paul Lambert in February. Brendan Rodgers, who was recently sacked by Liverpool, and current Real Sociedad boss David Moyes are the early frontrunners for the post.
