The Syrian government closed the airspace on Sunday following reports of a plane being shot down.
The country's state media SANA, has confirmed that two Syrian government planes over the Idlib region of northwest Syria were targetted.
They said the pilots escaped in parachutes and were fine.
No further details were available.
