Saudi civil aviation extends suspension of operations at Riyadh airport

KKIA

The Saudi civil aviation has extended the suspension of operations at King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh on Monday following attacks on the facility.

In a post shared on the social media platform X, the authority said the extension was to complete the procedures needed to verify the safety of the airport facilities and their readiness.

Attacks at the airport killed at least 12 people and injured over 300 on Saturday. Meanwhile, one person died, and 11 others were injured during an attack on Riyadh's airport on Sunday, according to the aviation authority.

UAE carriers have cancelled flights to several cities in Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, and Abha.

In a statement on its website, Philippine Airlines said flights to and from Riyadh remain suspended until November 29 due to the "evolving security situation at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport".
