A court in the Philippines has found the masterminds behind the Maguindanao Massacre guilty on multiple counts of murder.

Datu Andal Ampatuan and Zaldy Ampatuan were sentenced to life in prison, while the third brother was acquitted for lack of evidence.

In 2009, 58 people were killed when their convoy was attacked in the southern province of Maguindanao.

The Ampatuan family had reportedly orchestrated the killings in a bid to eliminate a political rival clan.
