Norway evacuates 1,300 passengers from disabled cruise ship

Rescue workers off Norway’s western coast rushed to evacuate 1,300 passengers and crew from a cruise ship that suffered an engine failure.

Five helicopters and several ships are taking part in the evacuation.

According to reports, the Viking Sky cruise ship issued a mayday call due to "engine problems in bad weather".

The ship is in Hustadvika bay, an area that is reportedly known "for fierce weather".

Nine of those evacuated were injured, including three who are in a serious condition.
