Northern Vietnam continues to battle severe weather

AFP

Northern Vietnam continues to face severe flooding and landslides following the impact of Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm to hit Asia this year.

The typhoon, which made landfall on Saturday, has resulted in at least 197 deaths and 128 people missing, with around 800 others injured, according to the government’s disaster management agency.

Thousands of residents in Hanoi and surrounding northern provinces have been evacuated.

The weather agency is predicting little change in the water levels of the Red River over the next 24 hours, which has reached its highest level in 20 years.
