Myanmar top court rejects reporters' appeal

Myanmar's top court on Tuesday rejected an appeal of two Reuters reporters jailed on charges linked to their reports on Rohingyas fleeing a military crackdown.

"They were sentenced for seven years and this decision stands, and the appeal is rejected," Supreme Court Justice Soe Naing told the court.

Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo have spent more than 16 months in detention since they were arrested in December 2017 under the Official Secrets Act.

Lawyers for the reporters had appealed, citing evidence that the pair were set up by police.
