Armed forces in Malta have rescued more than 200 migrants from the Mediterranean.

The patrol boats picked them up from two boats that were sinking.

The migrants, whose nationalities have not been revealed, were on the way to Malta when they were rescued.

Authorities say there's been a spike in the number of people leaving countries Algeria and Libya this week because of good weather conditions.
