Kuwait strongly condemns Iranian attacks targeting its territories

Kuwait's Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting its territories with missiles and drones, describing it as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the country's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

In a statement published in the state media, the ministry affirmed that the attacks posed a direct threat to civilians and vital facilities and came at a time when a peace deal was being negotiated. It also constituted a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter.

It said the attacks undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving regional security and stability, calling on Iran to immediately and unconditionally halt such attacks.

The ministry affirmed Kuwait's full right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and defend its territory and vital facilities against any aggression or threat legally.

Early Thursday, Kuwait's air defences said it intercepted missiles and drones but did not say where they came from.

Meanwhile, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they targeted a US airbase at 0450 local time after what they described as an early morning US attack near Bandar Abbas airport, Tasnim news agency reported.

The IRGC did not say where the base was.
