Joint Arab-Islamic Summit backs calls for Gaza humanitarian truce

WAM

The Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit has concluded in Riyadh, welcoming the UN General Assembly's Resolution, adopted on October 26, calling for an immediate, sustained humanitarian truce leading to the end of hostilities.

The Summit emphasised that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace is the only way to ensure security and stability for all peoples of the region and protect them from cycles of violence and war.

It also affirmed that it is impossible to achieve regional peace by bypassing the Palestinian Cause or trying to ignore the rights of the Palestinian people, and that the Arab Peace Initiative, which was endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, is a fundamental reference.

It condemned all forms of hatred and discrimination and all proposals that perpetuate a culture of hatred and extremism and emphasised all resolutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League on the Palestinian Cause and all occupied Arab territories.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court led the UAE delegation, on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
