Haze wraps India's capital again as air quality plummets

Air quality in India's capital city dipped to "'very poor'' category again on Monday, after a weekend of clearer air and better weather.

According to reports, the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi touched 331 at 10:37 am (local time).

The city's air quality was expected to turn "severe" by Tuesday, government air quality monitoring service SAFAR warned.

Last week, India's Supreme Court chided authorities for their failure to improve air quality and asked the city government, its neighbouring states and the federal government to work together.

Meanwhile, the recently introduced "odd-even" system for private cars ends on November 15.
