Four die in Delhi building collapse as rains batter India, trigger landslides

At least four people have died in the Indian capital city of Delhi after an under-construction three-storey building collapsed following heavy rain.

One person has been rescued alive from the rubble, as local police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other emergency teams rushed to the site, news agency PTI reported.

Heavy rains lashed the Indian capital on Wednesday, with the country's weather bureau issuing 'red' and 'orange' alerts and forecasting thunderstorms and more rain.

Over the last few days, several Indian states have been facing extreme weather-related incidents, with four deaths reported in the south Indian city of Wayanad after torrential rain triggered a landslide. In the western state of Maharashtra, at least 13 people were killed earlier this week. In the city of Pune, nine people were feared trapped after a large mound of garbage collapsed at a waste treatment facility.

Elsewhere in the country, visuals showed waterlogged streets in Agra and flooded highways in Gujarat, with residents wading through knee-deep waters.
