Floods, landslides leave scores dead across Nepal

PRAKASH MATHEMA / AFP

Flash floods and landslides in Nepal triggered by monsoon rains left at least 47 people dead and 29 others missing.

Since Thursday, heavy rain has disrupted communication lines and traffic in the Himalayan nation, submerged large swathes of land and put settlements near rain-fed rivers at high risk.

Search and rescue efforts have been intensified, with local authorities estimating that around 6,000 people have had their houses damaged.
